Incorporate CBD supplements into your CrossFit training regimen to support your body while training and maintain health and well being.

Whether it is a throwdown, tribal clash or warrior race, every year thousands of people enter CrossFit competitions around the world, to demonstrate their strength, endurance, and heart in an effort to be named the Fittest on Earth.

Those who participate in CrossFit know that the workouts can be physically brutal. The incredibly challenging “workouts of the day” (WODs) are designed to push the body to its limits.

To regularly perform at such a high intensity, CrossFit athletes, no matter the level, have to be conscious about making sure they’re giving their bodies what they need to run at their best. This is why so many have started to incorporate CBD supplements into their routines.

What is CBD?

First, let’s briefly go over what CBD is for those who are new to cannabis supplements. CBD is an all-natural cannabinoid derived from the flowers and leaves of hemp. It can be easily extracted from the plant in the form of an oil, which can then be infused into various types of supplements.

This particular cannabinoid has become highly sought after in recent years by athletes, and today everyone from professional competitors to recreational enthusiasts have started to add it into their training routine.

CBD helps keep the body and its functions running at their best. Once absorbed by the body, CBD interacts with the body’s systems of regulatory networks that keeps a wide array of important functions in balance.

While the body produces its own Cannabinoids, called Endocannabinoids, supplementing with plant-derived CBD can further support your bodily system’s ability to function optimally so that you can physically perform at your personal best.

This is why so many athletes today take CBD as a dietary supplement.

Just like other types of athletes, CrossFitters can take advantage of these natural balancing properties of CBD by incorporating CBD supplements – such as CBD oils, CBD balms and CBD E-liquids into their training routine.

How Does CBD Benefit CrossFit Specifically?

As you can imagine, CBD oil supplements have also found their way into the CrossFit community.

CrossFit coaches regularly challenge their athletes by putting them through a wide range of high intensity activities, from Olympic weightlifting to gymnastics. More times than not, these workouts leave the body exhausted and fatigued, and this day-in and day-out rigorous training regimen takes it toll. As CrossFitters continue to train and push themselves to new levels, chances are their bodies are thrown off balance.

Rest and recovery are just as vital ingredients to CrossFit training as the actual WOD’s themselves. By supporting the body, CBD supplements can help CrossFitters return their functions to balance so that they can quickly and adequately recover from such intense physical exertion. Better recovery enables CrossFit athletes to reach higher levels of performance during training and competition.

Because CBD is non-intoxicating and doesn’t cause a high, CrossFit competitors can incorporate CBD supplements before or after their WODs without any concern that their physical and cognitive functions will be temporarily impacted.

Taking CBD Before CrossFit to support strenuous exercise

When you’re regularly pushing your body physically, it’s crucial that you take steps to promote balance in your systems so that they can continue to perform at their top level. Using CBD before your WOD can help your body to function as efficiently as possible. Those who use CBD in their training often report that the supplements help them “find their flow” or “be more focused” during their workouts.

For CrossFitters interested in delivering the balancing properties of CBD during their WOD, CBD supplements that are absorbed quickly are most ideal.

Is CBD Allowed in CrossFit?

Athletes who participate in CrossFit-sanctioned competitions have to be very careful about the supplements and other substances they put on and into their bodies. The organization does have a rigorous drug-testing policy and athletes registered in any CrossFit-sanctioned competition are subject to drug testing at any time during the year, even during out-of-competition periods.

Those found in violation are subject to sanctions that can include disqualification from an event, loss of results from previous competitions, suspensions from future events, and forfeiture of any prizes, awards, or money.

While cannabinoids are included in the list of substances banned by CrossFit, the organization currently excludes CBD (cannabidiol) from that list. This means that CrossFit competitors can incorporate CBD supplements into their training regimen without being in violation of the drug policy.
